Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about installing, using, and getting the most out of OmniDraw.
What is OmniDraw?
OmniDraw is a drawing engine that lets AI assistants create and export images. It runs as a local MCP server, so your AI can draw shapes, text, and images through natural conversation.
What AI clients work with OmniDraw?
OmniDraw works with any MCP-compatible client, including Cursor, Claude Desktop, and others that support the Model Context Protocol.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Once installed, you interact with OmniDraw through your AI assistant using natural language. Just describe what you want to create.
Does OmniDraw require an internet connection?
OmniDraw runs entirely on your local machine. No data is sent to the cloud. The only time an internet connection is needed is for license validation (Pro tier) and initial installation.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free gives you the full drawing workflow with up to 2 compositions. Pro unlocks unlimited compositions, reusable image assets, project save/open, and high-resolution supersampling exports.
How do I activate a Pro license?
Set the OMNIDRAW_LICENSE_KEY environment variable to your license key and restart your MCP client. Visit the install page for step-by-step instructions.
What image formats does OmniDraw export?
OmniDraw currently exports PNG images. Pro users can also use supersampling for higher-resolution output.
Can I use OmniDraw for commercial projects?
Yes. Images you create with OmniDraw are yours. There are no restrictions on how you use the output.
What operating systems are supported?
OmniDraw supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. You need Python 3.10 or later to install the package.
